Duration: 4 HOURS - Daily, departure in the morning
Krakow - the old capital of Poland sitting on the crossroads of the ancient trade routes. Is one of the most famous and beautiful cities in Europe. It is filled with history and architectual wonders from different eras.
The Krakow Old Town is encircled by the Planty Park retaining the orgiginal layout dating back to the founding of the city. There are 39 museums, 74 art galleries, 7 theatres, 19 cinemas, a Music Theatre of Opera and Operetta and a Philharmonic Hall. Each year many national and international cultural events take place here. Krakow is an important centre of education and culture in Poland. European City of Culture in 2000.
We start the tour visiting the Jewish quarter Kazimierz, then on to Wawel Hill to see The Wawel Cathedral and Royal Castle - you can visit the interior of the Castle, which hosts a fine collection of furniture, works of art and tapestries. Following this walk along the Royal Route via Grodzka Street to the Old Town. Krakow is an ancient seat of learning, and we stop at Collegium Maius -the oldest part of the Jagiellonian University followed by Collegium Novum the new one to compare them. The streets of the Old Town are a cavalcade of churches and aristocratic palaces, while at its heart is one of the largest of city squares in Europe, the Main Market Square. The Square has a delightful atmosphare created partly by the numerous pavement cafés, restaurants and shops. The square boasts the magnificent Gothic St.Mary s Basilica, with its famous Medieval wooden altar sculptured by Vit Stwosz as well as Sukiennince, a 100 meters long Cloth market, now hosting stalls with crafts. This is the largest single roofed building of its kind and time. We continue our walk along Florianska Street up to the Florianska Gate, on the wall of which Kraków's art students exhibit and sell their paintings, then Barbican (defensive bastion) and we will end our tour at the Matejki Sq.
Two options of this tour are available : - Walking ( this one does not include a visit to the Jewish Kazimierz ) - By car (inclusive the Jewish District )
It is a real pleasure to visit such an exceptional place on the earth !

St.Mary's Basilica - Cracow's Bazylika Mariacka, also known as Kosciol Mariacki, St. Mary's Basilica, or the "Church of the Holy Virgin Mary" began construction in 1222, under the leadership of the Bishop of Cracow, Iwo Odrowaz. St. Mary's was build prior to the development of the town of Cracow, which officially began in 1257, as the town sprang up around the church.

The holdings include some true treasures. A permanent exhibition of the Royal Rooms includes the rooms on the ground floor, the suites on the first floor as well as the Ambassadorial and the Senatorial Halls and the Hall under the Eagle. Visitors can admire the best of the 136 sixteenth century Flemish tapestries, called the Wawel or Sigismund August's arrases from the name of the king who ordered them and the town where they were made. There are also Italian and Flemish paintings dating from the fifteenth through seventeenth century, royal portraits, and a collection of Italian Renaissance furniture. Two second floor rooms feature borders by Hans Duerer, and the coffered ceiling of the Ambassadorial Hall contains 30 of Wawel's 194 famous head sculptures, a decoration which has adorned this representative room since 1540. The Royal Rooms exhibition presents the royal residence as it looked in the sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries. Other rooms serve to exhibit the collection of porcelain and Johann Kendler's The Crucifixion, a sculpture reconstructed from minute pieces.
